Untuk itu, ia mendorong LDII menjadi pelopor persatuan antaranak bangsa. “Ini adalah tahun politik, LDII harus menjadi pelopor, walaupun sudah menjadi pelopor untuk memperkuat persatuan kita. Pemilu hanyalah kontestasi biasa, setiap lima tahun ada Pemilu. Untuk itu saya mengapresiasi karena LDII selalu menjadi pelopor untuk memperkuat wawasan kebangsaan dan memperkuat persatuan karena kita keluarga besar,” ujarnya. Di samping itu, Mantan Ketua MPR RI itu juga mengajak LDII memperkuat ekonomi rakyat kecil. Kementeriannya mempunyai program “Warung Rakyat” yang bisa diimplementasikan kepada warga LDII di seluruh Indonesia.
